All certifications must be completed before your first practice. Required items are non-negotiable — they protect your players and the program.
No exceptions. Coaches who have not completed required certifications will not be permitted on the sideline. Start early — some courses have processing time.
Required for all head coaches. Covers foundational coaching principles, player development, and safety protocols. Completed online through US Lacrosse.
US Lacrosse CoachingAll coaches and volunteers working directly with players must complete a background check before the season begins. Contact the program director to initiate.
Free online concussion awareness training from the CDC. Required for all coaches. Takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
CDC Heads Up TrainingStrongly recommended for all head coaches. Certification through the American Red Cross or equivalent provider. Contact us if you need assistance finding a local course.
Red Cross CoursesPractice plans, drills, and playbooks are provided to all coaches before the season. Materials are tailored to each division's age and skill level.
Structured 60 and 90-minute practice plans for each division. Covers warm-up, skill work, small-sided games, and cool-down. Shared with coaches before the season.
Age-appropriate drills for passing, catching, ground balls, shooting, and defense. Organized by skill level and division.
Offensive and defensive concepts broken down by division. Includes diagrams, terminology, and progression guides for the full season.
Emergency action plans, heat illness guidelines, concussion protocols, and equipment inspection checklists. Review before every practice and game.

Complete all required certifications before the first practice
Arrive at least 15 minutes before every practice and game
Communicate schedule changes to families with as much notice as possible
Enforce the NFHS/INLC rules consistently and fairly
Model the sportsmanship and character you expect from your players
Report any injuries or safety concerns to the program director immediately
Keep player development and safety above winning at all costs
